Black-owned businesses are growing three times faster than other businesses in the U.S., according to the U.S. Census Bureau. While most Black-owned business generate revenues of about $100,000 a year, many of these companies make millions and even billions of dollars every year.
Here’s who is on the top 10 list:
- World Wide Technology, Inc. – this Maryland Heights, Missouri technology company, founded in 1990 by David Steward, has annual revenues of more than $3 billion.
- Camac International Corp. – this Houston based oil exploration and operating company, founded in 1986, is run by a chemical engineer who was also appointed to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiation by President Obama.
- Bridgewater Interiors LLC – this Detroit supplier of motor vehicle parts and accessories for Ford and General Motors reached revenues of $1.1 billion in 2009.
