[Dallas developer Monte Anderson] purchased the 64-room hotel and its bar, Bar Belmont, at the corner of Fort Worth and Sylan avenues in Oak Cliff in 1999, working nights and weekends remaking the hotel that was built in 1946.
By 2005, Anderson had finished renovating the property — which was originally designed by Charles Stevens Dilbeck — and ended up playing cleaning person and security guard at times to pull off the hotel’s operations.
