For those who are socially challenged to find the most vibrant hotspots for blacks in the area, this is the hotspot of hotspots to check first!
- The Northpark Mall area at 75 and Northwest Hwy and Park Lane has a few happy hour spots that black professionals frequent. The most vibrant one is perhaps Kona Grill, which is has happy hour time slots: 3-7pm and the reverse happy hour from 9-11pm or later. A mix of black professionals and pro athletes come here often. Friday happy hours are the most vibrant. Blue Mesa Grill and Cheesecake Factory are also nearby and have lively gatherings of black professionals. Other nearby spots to consider:
- Park Tavern, especially it’s patio overlooking the street below as it is on the 2nd level next to Whole Food Market
- Luna de Noche
- Gordon Biersch
- Kona Grill in West Plano Village (Plano, north of Dallas) is quickly becoming a favorite of black professionals each Friday for watching sports and happy hour mixers. But of course, black professionals from all over the area come here as well.
- Shops at Legacy in Plano has spots where black professionals gather:
- Ra Sushi – Yeah, some of us may not like sushi, but they have regular cooked food (not just seafood) and also a full, sleek designed bar. Best happy hour times: Friday, especially while the sun is still up. 3-7pm M-F.
- Henry’s Tavern. It has both regular happy hours and reverse happy hour with a midnight menu for those who miss the reverse happy hour but need something to nibble on.
- Blue Martini. The black professional crowd has thinned out here lately after the departure of DJ SC, a good African American DJ, but there are those who still come here.
- Addison has quite a few happy hour spots that black professionals frequent regularly:
