The city’s Black entertainment scene includes restaurants, clubs, promoters, DJs, influencers and increasingly high-profile celebrity appearances. The audience is paying close attention to the experience they receive, particularly when pricing and access are involved. A few here in DFW and around the country are already painting all of Dallas Black nightlife with a broad brush because of this scandal.

What happens after Black professionals enter these industries and accumulate expertise, relationships and capital?

Some will become senior executives. Some may invest. Others will start companies, purchase businesses, mentor younger professionals or become customers and advisers to Black-owned firms. Many will simply build successful careers and provide greater economic security for their families.

All of those outcomes matter.
