Posted by By now, many of you heard about the sista behind the controversial Pink Sauce product that eventually got on Walmart shelves. Before Walmart, her product went viral on social media, gaining lots of marketing buzz. However, the product was not packaged properly for shipping, resulting in some very messy deliveries and angry customers. A few even complained of food poisoning allegedly. Then came her infamous comment, that her product ain’t regulated by the FDA, because it is not a drug lol.
That comment, unfortunately, made her a laughingstock among her detractors and haters. They denounced her lack of business acumen and planning.
As inexperienced as she is in business, you still gotta give her credit for effectively using social media, to get the kind of attention, that got the right people, to help her get her product in Walmart. But her main problem is that when that opportunity came knocking, common sense ran out the door without her lol. Nevertheless, how many of you can do what she did? Hate her all you want, but she’s not as dumb as many make her out to be.
My only constructive criticism of her is that she didn’t recognize early enough that she needed business coaching to come up with the right plan. It ain’t easy finding someone you can trust. She probably had her whole identity and life savings tied up in her dream, so she probably didn’t want to share it with just anyone. Like many of you, she may not have been brought up to network and build the kinds of relationships to build a team to give her the assist.
Going solo like this, without skills and expertise, is one of the top reasons almost ALL small businesses fail within the first year. Pay attention. The Pink Sauce lady is proof of this. I will do a video soon walking through her business approach step by step, from concept to retail store shelves, so that both you, and perhaps her if she watches, can learn, free of charge, what kind of business planning and strategizing you have to do to grow your business properly.
