The history of black people in Texas should get broader exposure with the recent launch of the new online Handbook of African American Texas, a project in which local scholar W. Marvin Dulaney played a major role.Dulaney, chairman of the history department at the University of Texas at Arlington, wrote the handbook’s lead essay and entries on the African American Museum at Fair Park in Dallas and pioneering Dallas black journalist Julia Scott Reed.
