Our Story

Affluent Blacks of Dallas was created by Dallas–Fort Worth entrepreneur and technology professional John D. Conley III.

The platform began with a straightforward observation: Black professionals were accomplishing remarkable things throughout North Texas, but the breadth of their lifestyles, businesses, communities and influence was not consistently reflected in mainstream local media.

The Black Dallas story was—and remains—much larger than celebrity, sports, hardship or nightlife alone.

It includes corporate leaders, technology professionals, physicians, attorneys, educators, real estate investors, small-business owners, artists, community builders, established families and ambitious newcomers creating their place in one of America’s most dynamic metropolitan regions.

Affluent Blacks of Dallas was developed to help tell that broader story.

Over time, the platform has grown into an extensive collection of DFW lifestyle guidance, business commentary, cultural coverage, historical reflection, event information and community conversation.

Its purpose continues to evolve with the region and the people it serves.

Affluent Blacks of Dallas grew from that broader entrepreneurial foundation, including earlier properties such as Step ONE Entertainment, Dallas Urban Sound and Ebonair. Today, the platform is focused on documenting and elevating the people, businesses, culture and lifestyle shaping Black Dallas–Fort Worth.
